You can learn new tricks
I love learning, thinking, discovering, and just observing. Seems like I stumble onto another book, podcast, blog, vlog or YouTube channel everyday that I could learn from. And then there’s the new apps like snapchat, periscope, blab, meerkat etc. There just isn’t enough time in the day for me to listen to, watch, and read all the the stuff I’d like to.
I’m pretty picky about the books I read. I love to read both fiction and non-fiction, but I always want to be learning something that I can use in my life.
I love grabbing my guitar and learning songs that I hear on the radio. I also love watching how-to videos on YouTube where people are showing how to play a song, or how to dial in the same guitar sound with your amps and effects.
You can find all sorts of how-to videos on YouTube. Once I was curious if I could replace a laptop screen by myself, so I looked on YouTube. Sure enough, I found someone had recorded a step-by-step video for the exact laptop model I needed to fix. They even recommended a good place to buy the new screen. I saved a bunch of money, and it was fun.
Several years ago I found a great online resource for learning how to use all the software I own for doing web design. If you have never checked out lynda.com you are missing out on an awesome resource. I wouldn’t be the website builder I am today without lynda.com and their amazing teachers.
Lynda.com, a LinkedIn Company, is a leading online learning company that helps anyone learn business, technology and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals.
